Tiki Tuesday: The Kon-Tiki
/The best part about living in the Bay Area is that you’re never too far from a tiki bar. Before heading to a concert in downtown Oakland, we went over to The Kon-Tiki for some pre show drinks and food. Open for almost a year now, The Kon-Tiki is giving us a classic over the top decorated bar with a full service restaurant.
“The Kon-Tiki is a tiki bar and restaurant in downtown Oakland, brought to you by Christ Aivaliotis and Matthew Reagan.”
Cute menus! We loved the design!
The Kon-Tiki serves classic tiki drinks established by Donn Beach (Don the Beachcomber) and Oakland’s own Victor Bergeron (Trader Vic), as well as their original tropical cocktails.
The food was excellent, and the drinks even better! We had a hard time deciding on what to get for the second round, but we were assured that the Volcano Bowl was the way to go. Defiantly had a generous amount of rum that kept our buzz going strong.
Clockwise: Virgin’s Downfall, Pago Pago, Kamaiina, and Uma uma

We’re looking forward to our next Oakland adventure so we can stop by The Kon-Tiki and treat ourselves to a little island get away.
